ANWAR SADATH MLA
Anwar Sadath, Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly from Aluva Constituency, has dedicated his life to public service and grassroots leadership. Beginning his political journey through the Kerala Students Union (KSU) during his school days, he gradually rose through various organizational roles in the Youth Congress and the Indian National Congress.
Over the years, he has worked closely with local communities, focusing on development, social welfare, and people-centric initiatives. From his early role in the Chengamanad Grama Panchayath to his election to the Ernakulam District Panchayath, his leadership has consistently reflected a strong commitment to public welfare and inclusive development.

In the vibrant political landscape of Kerala, few stories are as grounded and consistent as that of Anwar Sadath, the MLA representing the Aluva constituency. His journey is a testament to the fact that in a democracy, the path to the Legislative Assembly often begins at the very doorstep of the people—the Grama Panchayat.
The Foundation: Student Politics and Local Roots
Born on February 18, 1975, in Aluva, Anwar Sadath’s political awakening began during his school days. Like many prominent leaders in Kerala, he cut his teeth in the Kerala Student Union (KSU). Serving as a School Unit President and later moving up to district-level leadership roles, he learned the importance of organizing and advocating for student rights early on.
His transition into the Youth Congress saw him take on significant responsibilities as a Block, District, and eventually State Secretary. This period was crucial in building the “man of the people” image that he carries today.
Conquering Aluva: A Hat-trick of Success
Anwar Sadath’s entry into the Kerala Legislative Assembly in 2011 was a turning point. Representing the Indian National Congress (INC), he achieved what many considered a tough feat by defeating the sitting CPI(M) member.
Since then, Aluva has stood firmly behind him:
- 2011: Secured his first win against AM Yusuf.
- 2016: Re-elected with a massive margin of over 18,000 votes.
- 2021: Completed a hat-trick of victories, further solidifying his position as a cornerstone of the UDF in Ernakulam district.
Current Role: The Voice of the Opposition In the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly, Anwar Sadath serves as the Chief Whip of the United Democratic Front (UDF). This role requires not just political acumen but also the ability to maintain discipline and unity within the opposition ranks during crucial legislative sessions.
Known for his active participation in awareness programs and his approachable nature, Sadath remains deeply connected to his roots in Aluva. Whether it is through his column writing or his presence in the constituency, he continues to bridge the gap between the corridors of power and the common man.
